Evening Forecast for Jan 28
Our stagnant air mass is still in place bringing temperature inversions all across the region.
Tonight, partly cloudy skies with patchy fog. Count on clear skies in the highlands with some valley locations clearing up throughout the evening. Even with the clearing, we’ll still have patchy fog. Overnight lows should bottom out in the single digits with a few spots below 0 and in the low teens.
Sunday, partly cloudy skies with patchy morning fog and some sunshine in the afternoon. We’ll still see that mid-level layer of clouds no thanks to the inversion, but it should break up more for the valleys than it did in Saturday. Highs in the teens and 20’s with the higher elevations warmer than some of the valleys.
Monday, partly cloudy skies with more patchy morning fog. Highs still colder in the valleys than the mountains, topping out in the teens and 20’s.
Tuesday, changes as a storm slides to our north and the inversion starts to break up. Count on breezes picking up and clouds increasing throughout the day. There’s a chance of some afternoon snow showers in the central mountains and in the northern Snake River Plain, but right now the chance sits only at around 30%. Daytime highs will be in the 20’s.
