Home and Garden returns to Idaho Falls with new features

If you are looking to build your dream home or just wanting to spruce up your current one, help arrived this weekend.

The Eastern Idaho Home and Garden Show started, Friday at the Kingston Plaza on 1545 W. Broadway in Idaho Falls. More than 150 vendors showed up.

The nine-year-old event has been going strong. There is something for everyone, including the Texas Roadhouse Planting Station for kids, activities and on-stage performances and you can feed live butterflies at the CL Printing “World of Butterflies Exhibit”, which is the newest feature.

Elite Events is hosting it for the second time this year and the organizers said this is the biggest year yet.

The event is not holding back in making sure everyone who comes has a little fun, even if customers leave empty-handed.

Deck-It Spas owner, Candis Twede said she has been coming to the shows for quite a while.

Twede’s family-owned business is run out of her home, since it first started, in 1994.

“I don’t have a big building and a store front, so for me to get customers in, besides referrals and looking it up online or in the old version of a phone book, people come to shows,” Twede said.

Because it is family-owned, Twede said compared to regular spa companies, she does not have to mark her prices high.

First-timer Daniel Moldenhauer said he is here because his new store on W. Broadway in Idaho Falls, needed some customer exposure.

“We have some great PrimoBrands that we want to feature for our customers. We have Yeti coolers, Traeger Grillsa and Webber grills,” Moldenhauer said.

Sarah Bates said she is looking for home improvement ideas.

“We were just cruising around town and thought that this would be something fun, different to come and look around, and we’ve been thinking about building a house, so we wanted to look at some different companies that offer maybe citing options or window options,” Bates said.

The Home and Garden Show began at noon and ends at 8 p.m. Friday. The two-day even continues Saturday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets are $3 for adults and kids under 12 is free.

Senior citizens get in for free Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
