Martin Edmo Ish found guilty of manslaughter
After more than a day of deliberations, the jury announced Friday that they found Martin Edmo Ish guilty on the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter for the death of Eguene Lorne Red Elk. He was found not guilty of second-degree murder.
The trial for Ish started on April 18 and continued until Thursday when the defense and prosecution gave their closing arguments. The jury began deliberations that afternoon.
Ish was arrested on the murder charge for the 2009 death of Eguene Lorne Red Elk in June of 2015. Red Elk was found with severe head and chest trauma on the night of June 14, 2009, in the parking lot of Duffy’s Tavern at 1304 N. Main in Pocatello, where he worked as a part-time bouncer. He died three days later.
Ish was also found guilty on a second charge of being a persistent violator.
Sentencing for both charges will be scheduled on a later date.
