Multiple power outages in Idaho Falls area

Electricity has been restored to about 1,500 Idaho Falls Power customers after a Friday morning outage.

Spokesperson Joelyn Hansen said a power line was damaged when a tree limb fell on it at around 10:30 a.m on South Boulevard.

She warns that there were many tree limbs broken during wind storms last weekend that did not fall to the ground at the time. With additional wind gusts forecast this weekend, many of those branches could fall and create new outage problems this weekend.

Rocky Mountain Power is also experiencing multiple outages in the area.

Spokesman Dave Eskelsen said one outage started at 10:34 a.m. at the Westwood Substation in Rigby. This outage affected 268 customers and was restored around 11:55 a.m.

Eskelsen reports the outage was caused by a damaged junction fuse that was damaged by the wind.

Another outage that started at 10:53 a.m. at the Ucon Substation affected 1,184 customers. Power was restored at 11:56 a.m. Eskelsen reports the cause of this outage was wind.

Also, a small scheduled outage for a repair job in Bingham County is affecting 96 customers.
