Election Day set for Tuesday
Tuesday is Election day and many people will be going to the polls to vote on city races and other county and school elections. The polls will be open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Many cities, including Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Blackfoot are voting for a mayor and city council members. But that’s not all voters will be deciding on Tuesday.
In Bingham County, people will vote on whether to be part of the community college tax district. If approved, taxpayers would join Bonneville County taxpayers in supporting the College of Eastern Idaho located in Idaho Falls.
The city of Blackfoot is asking voters to approve a $5-million bond to renovate the Blackfoot swimming pool. The pool bond will need a two-thirds majority to be approved.
A small number of school building bonds are on the ballot as well. Idaho Falls School District 91 is looking to build a new high school and renovate Skyline High School. The $110 million bond will need a two-thirds majority to pass. The money will be used to build a new high school at 49th South between Holmes and St. Clair.
Voters in the Teton School District in Driggs and Victor will decide two school bond issues. The first is a $30,050,000 bond. It would be used to construct two new elementary schools. One would be located in Driggs and the other in Victor. It would also provide enough money for necessary renovations and improvements to Rendezvous Upper Elementary School and Tetonia Elementary school. The second bond totals $7,230,000. It would provide improvements to the existing Teton Middle School and Teton High School buildings. The bonds must achieve a two-thirds majority for approval.
In Bannock County, voters will be deciding on a $16 million jail bond. $14 million will go toward the Bannock county jail to remodel and improve the facility. $2 million would be used to construct a Behavioral Care Center. The bond will require a two-thirds majority vote for approval.

Voters will need a photo ID to vote or sign a Personal Identification Affidavit in order to vote at the polls.
Those who haven’t registered will be able to do so at the polls. Bring a document with a valid address in your precinct and photo identification when you go to your polling place.
