Two unrelated shootings over the weekend in Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports there were two unrelated shootings over the weekend in Jefferson County.
On Saturday around 6:15 p.m., Jefferson County Deputies responded to a disturbance with shots fired call involving an adult female and a male juvenile.
Deputies report when they arrived on the scene, they located an adult female with a gunshot wound to the head area.
The 43-year-old female victim was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and underwent surgery for her injury.
Police report she is expected to survive.
Officials said the 15-year-old juvenile was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the residence.
According to the sheriff’s office, the location and names are being withheld for the privacy of the family.
Jefferson County Detectives are continuing to investigate the cause of this incident.
A second and separate incident occurred on Sunday, Nov. 12 at approximately 1:17 a.m. when Jefferson County Deputies responded to EIRMC in reference to an accidental gunshot wound.
Officials report a 16-year-old male juvenile was driving a Honda Civic on Bassett Road in Jefferson County with two juvenile passengers who were playing with a 45 caliber handgun in the vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, the rear passenger accidentally discharged the weapon causing the bullet strike his left hand and then enter the front seat striking the male juvenile driver in the back.
Officials said both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.
The other 14-year-old passenger was not injured.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
