Report: Idaho Falls is one of the top places for millennials to move
Affordability, education and growth are big factors for millennials deciding where to move. And Idaho Falls has it all. A Stateline analysis listed Idaho Falls as one of 10 small cities attracting millennials.
“We have great recreational opportunities,” Chip Schwarze, CEO of the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce, said. “We have a community that loves and supports family values. We have a community that has great educational opportunities and everything you could want, like shopping. There’s no reason to leave Idaho Falls, you can get everything you need right here.”
With numerous colleges and major companies near by, Idaho Falls is a hot spot for young, educated professionals.
“We have the INL, we have Melaleuca, we have all these opportunities for employment in our community,” Schwarze said. “So naturally, we’re gonna be a place people want to come to.”
Downtown businesses and growth also attract millennials. Especially the local restaurant scene.
“That is qualities that millennials are looking for,” Catherine Smith, Executive Director of Idaho Falls Downtown Development, said. “Knowing where their food is coming from, knowing how it’s prepared. Looking for items, products that are not mass produced, but are more eclectic and that’s all downtown.”
Some other cities on the list include Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Bismarck, North Dakota and Rochester, Minnesota.
