IFPD reports over 15 accidents in an hour Tuesday
UPDATE 1/22/18 7:10 P.M.: Idaho Falls Police tells Local News 8 and Eyewitness News one of the accidents on Yellowstone Highway near West Heyrend way resulted in a rollover accident.
A Chevy Tahoe was driving northbound on the Highway about 15 miles an hour before sliding and rolling off the highway.
The car rolled over and landed on its tires according to police on the scene.
The driver was transported to EIRMC by ambulance with moderate injuries.
The driver also had a warrant for their arrest.
ORGINAL STORY: Idaho Falls Police advises you to only drive if absolutely necessary because of black ice.
Between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Idaho Falls Police responded to more than 15 vehicle accidents.
Very slick roads have caused two 6-car pile-ups and several other accidents.
IFPD said to avoid the Yellowstone Highway between 17th St and W 65th South (York Rd.).
Idaho Falls Fire Department reports crews are responding to multiple accidents within a 1 mile stretch between Fielding Cemetery & A-1 Rental on S Yellowstone Hwy. There are traffic delays, and officials ask you use alternative routes. IFFD said an ambulance transported 2-3 people to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Police are advising you use extreme caution if you must drive and to stay off the roads entirely if possible.
