One of 2 newly installed flashing stop signs knocked down
The city of Ammon put up a new pair of solar-charging flashing stop signs at a busy intersection, but one of them has already been knocked down.
Road crews installed two of the high-tech stop signs at the intersection of Ammon Road and 49th South. This intersection has generated some controversy in the past. Recently, some citizens had started a petition to turn it into a four-way stop, but the city elected to go with the solar-energized signs on 49th.
However, sometime during the snowstorm Saturday night, the one on the northeast side of the intersection was knocked down by a sliding car.
The city has placed a temporary stop sign there now. It’s not known when Ammon will get the new sign back up. The new signs have only been there for about two weeks.
