Homes evacuated for gas leak

Idaho Falls Police reports officials have evacuated 12 homes on Brookside Drive in the Stonebrook subdivision in Idaho Falls.

A gas leak was caused by a construction crew, and officials report there is a strong smell of gas in the air.

Sunnyside Elementary is on notice, but officials have tested the air and report there is no threat to the area.

Officials say it will take crews between 45 minutes to 4 hours to repair the lines.
