* Until 300 PM MDT Friday
* At 906 PM MDT, very heavy rains, combined with the melting of
existing snow, have cause enormous amounts of flooding of land
even not near a creek or river. This phenomenon is known as sheet
flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen, and it is
likely that another half inch will be added during the overnight
hours. The flooding should continue into Friday afternoon.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Rexburg, Sugar City, Teton, Archer, Egin, Plano, Thornton, Green
Canyon Hot Springs, Newdale and southern Saint Anthony Sand Dunes.
Additional rainfall amounts of around 0.5 of an inch are possible in
the warned area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
