New Flood Warnings issued for Friday March 23rd and Saturday the 24th
The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued several flood warnings for Eastern Idaho. These new warnings include the Portneuf River in Bannock County, Camas and Beaver Creeks in Jefferson County. A Flood Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Riverton for Teton and Lincoln counties in Western Wyoming.

Portneuf River at Topaz Affecting Bannock County
The heavy rains and substantial snowmelt from higher elevations is
draining into the Portneuf River basin, causing the river to exceed
its banks at Topaz. This surge in river stage is expected to move
down river and, eventually, bring the Portneuf River in Pocatello
very close to flood stage.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Safety Message…Persons near the River should be aware of the
expected high water and take action to protect property.
The Flood Warning continues for

* At 3:15 PM Friday the stage was 4.7 feet.
* Flood Stage is 4.0 feet.
* Impact…At 4.0 feet…Lowland and crop field flooding possible from
Pebble Creek to Inkom.

Jefferson County in southeastern Idaho…
* Until 345 PM MDT Saturday
* At 343 PM MDT, emergency management officials of Jefferson County
have indicated that the heavy rains and drastic snowmelt of nearby
counties that caused flooding in those counties continues to move
downhill and now has reached Jefferson County. The main flooding
is occurring on or near Camas and Beaver Creeks. The run off has
also affected the towns of Hamer and Monteview. It should
eventually start affecting the lower elevations and towns and
cities in southern Jefferson County over the next 24 hours.

Rigby, Lorenzo, Terreton, Menan, Ririe, Roberts, Lewisville, Mud
Lake, Hamer, Monteview, Heise and Sage Junction.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

of low lying areas near Moose due to rain on snowmelt. Overflowing
of poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding of low lying
areas across portions of Jackson Hole and Star Valley through
early Saturday.
* Another tenth of an inch of rain is expected across Jackson Hole
and Star Valley trough Friday afternoon. Temperatures across the
area upper 30s to lower 40s.
