Teton VU Drive-In opens for season
Time to grab your blankets and popcorn–the Teton VU Drive-In on north Yellowstone Highway in Rexburg is opening for the summer season Wednesday night.
The Drive-In originally planned on opening earlier in the year, but because of weather conditions, they had to postpone the opening.
The Drive-In has been around since the 1950’s–with new additions to the snack bar, projector and screen.
The Drive-In switched from film to digital a few years ago, which the owner says is what’s keeping them afloat in an online-film age.
“Popularity wise, we don’t have a problem there. A lot of the challenge is just working with studios, getting where it’s a double feature, we end up having to double pay on royalties. So it’s not uncommon for eighty to ninety percent of the ticket price to be going toward the studios,” said owner, Cameron Andrews.
The Drive-In is located at 1114 N Yellowstone Highway, with tickets at $8.00 Adults, $5 Seniors, $1 Children 5-11, 4 and under free.
Operating hours will include special show times for premieres, and weekend showings for regular movies.
