Screening reminder for Colon Cancer Awareness Month
March may be coming to an end, but it’s still Colon Cancer Awareness Month. We want to remind you the importance of getting screenings.
Doctors recommend that you start getting regular screenings at age 50. They say screenings can prevent polyps from turning into cancer, and if diagnosed early it’s very treatable.
There aren’t many symptoms during the early stages which is why screenings are so important.
“Some of the symptoms that you might see are, change in bowel habits, constipation, diarrhea, some abdominal cramping, blood in your stool, some generalized abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss are some of the things you might see as symptoms. Often times those aren’t seen until later in the game,” says Dr. David Chamberlain D.O.
If you would like more information Dr. Chamberlain is having a talk about Colon Cancer Awareness on April 17 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Hospital in the lower level conference rooms.
