Families celebrate Father’s Day at American Falls Fishing Derby
For over 30 years now, people have been waking up early and getting their boats on the water with the hopes of brining home the day’s biggest catch.
As the Father’s Day Fishing Derby runs today in American Falls, people of all ages are casting a line off the dock or off their deck’s, trying to take home the big prize.
The event kicked off at 5 a.m. and more than 30 boats are said to have entered in the contest. Some travel more than 20 miles from the dock in search of fish.
While the sky was warm and sunny, the water has been rough. Whitecaps have been rolling through all day. And while the conditions aren’t being considered dangerous, they are something to keep an eye on.
The top three winners will be announced tonight, at 5:30.
