New online option for Jefferson County School District students

The Jefferson County School District is branching out. They’re adding an online option for students.

They say they realize kids learn in different ways so they want to be more flexible, whether students want to take all online classes or just a few to catch up or get ahead.

After a year of looking at different curriculums and plans, they’re ready.

“It’s not just a program that’s all online, and we don’t have any contact. Our teachers will work very closely with them and be able to have contact as much as they need. There will be a face-to-face component if needed for students. We’ll support them but we do feel its a way to expose them to that because we know some students may get a college degree totally online,” says Chad Martin, Director of Secondary Education for School District 251.

The online school option is only available for high school but they say the long-term plan is to offer middle school courses. If you want more information or to sign up, we have that link here.
