Police chase leads to arrest of two convicted felons

Idaho Falls Police arrested two men following a chase through Idaho Falls and Ammon.

A man in his 20s called police around 7:30 p.m. and reported that two men had threatened his life with weapons around the 700 block of Lindsay Blvd. and then took off. Police found the car and were led on a chase down 17th Street. The men led police to a neighborhood near John Adams Pkwy and Ross Ave. IFPD, along with help from Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies, boxed the car in the street, stopping them. The suspects were then arrested.

They were identified as 23-year-old Tyler Garcia of Idaho Falls and 24-year-old Rodney Maddux of Idaho Falls. They are both currently on felony state probation and are prohibited from possessing of firearms. Two firearms were found with the suspects. Police also recovered marijuana from the vehicle.

Both men have been arrested on charges of aggravated assault and felony unlawful of possession of a firearm. Garcia was also arrested on the charge of felony eluding law enforcement officers. The incident investigation is still underway and other charges are expected to be added, including charges regarding the possession of marijuana.

There is no threat to the public.
