Steamboat Geyser erupts 18th time in 2018

The Steamboat Geyser in Yellowstone National Park erupted for the 18th time in 2018 Wednesday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the geyser erupted at 4:23 a.m. It has been 4 days, 18 hours and 3 minutes since the last eruption.

Shelby Smith captured the video above around 8:10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Yellowstone National Park reports this is the most active year for Steamboat since 1982.

USGS said the geyser has decided to follow a semi-regular pattern of erupting about every 5 days over the past few weeks.
