Country Acres improvement project complete

The Chubbuck Development Authority has completed its most recent project, a reconstruction of streets in the Country Acres area.

The Country Acres area was originally built in the 1970’s without sidewalks. As part of the city’s commitment to become a “walkable city” the subdivision was determined to be deficient in safe walking routes. The project completely reconstructed roads, added parking at Cotant Park, and over 22,000 linear feet of sidewalk. The entire project took two years to complete.

“I live in this neighborhood and was directly impacted by the two years of construction but was pleased at how well the residents accepted the disruption caused by the construction process,”: said Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England. “I heard very little complaints or concerns during the entire project”.

A ribbon cutting ceremony to turn the area back to residents has been scheduled Wednesday, October 24, at 2 p.m.

The Development Authority was created in 1992 as an Urban Renewal Agency. The authority has invested $28.7 million in streets, parks, utilities, and economic development agreements over the past 26 years.
