Man arrested for attacking deputies

Madison County deputies were dispatched to Mother Hibbard’s Gas station at 15 N. 12th W. Monday around 5 p.m. to respond to a report of an unresponsive man sitting in a vehicle.

Deputies say the driver was obviously impaired but attempted to drive away. They prevented his departure and had him evaluated by EMTs on the scene.

The driver, Brenton Olive, became agitated and assaulted both EMTs and Deputies and then attempted to flee.

Deputies used approved use of force techniques to control the situation and took Olive into custody.

Once under control, it was determined he should be taken to Madison Memorial Hospital to be evaluated.

After he was cleared by hospital staff, he was then transported to the Madison County Jail.

Due to the events that took place, probable cause was found to charge Olive with felony battery on an officer, DUI, misdemeanor battery and obstruct and resist.
