D93 takes community on tour of schools to get input

Bonneville School District 93 is looking to make some changes with help from the public to get there.

A focus group, made up with patrons within the district, met with administrators, the board of trustees and architects at Hillcrest High School Wednesday night. Last week the patrons met with the district officials at Bonneville High School. They toured the schools and discussed solutions to help enhance the learning experience in the school district.

“It’s been really interesting,” said Jenni Talcott, a focus group participant. “It’s been most interesting to see the differences between the three different schools and the science department. It was interesting to see the disparity between the three different facilities at the schools and it’s been interesting to see how poorly Bonneville’s department is and how it really needs to be updated.”

Board members will go over information they received from their focus group next week during their work session.

The board said the district has a lot of needs because of the continued growth around the area. The next step is to get more community input as the board looks to find a bond the whole community can support.

“We decided to bring in a bunch of people from the public to get their input and let them know what our best idea has been over the past few months, and actually the past few years,” said Amy Landers, a Bonneville School District 93 board trustee. “We let them see what we’ve been working on and wanted to gather their input on whether or not we can gain community support for an upcoming bond.”
