Blackfoot Community Learning Center offered conditional renewal
The Idaho Public Charter School Commission (IPCSC) has recommended the charter of Blackfoot Charter Community Learning Center (BCCLC) be renewed for a five year term, as long as it meets certain conditions. The Idaho Attorney General’s Office reviewed the application on behalf of the commission, which is conducting an investigation of its own.
The recommended conditions include achieving a “good standing” rating on the academic section of the commission’s rules by June 30, 2022.
In addition to academic standards, the school was also required to financially separate from Bingham Academy, adopt a purchase order system to ensure documented approval of expenditures, eliminate prepaid credit cards using school funds, and clearly separate a daycare from the school itself,
The commission will also require school staff to complete appropriate administrative training. The agreement outlines deadlines for each of the requirements.
The Chair of the Learning Center Board accepted the conditions in a document signed January 31, 2019.
The Idaho Public Charter Commission will hold a public, charter renewal hearing for the Blackfoot Charter Community Learning Center March 1 at 9 a.m. in the JR Williams Building in Boise.
Other schools are also being considered at that hearing. They include Alturas International Academy, Compass Public Charter School, Connor Academy, Gem Prep in Pocatello, Liberty Charter School, Sage International School, Taylors Crossing Public Charter School, Victory Charter School, Vision Charter School, White Pine Charter School, and Xavier Charter School.
