Busy week of snow removal in Bannock County

With snow all over southeastern Idaho and more on the way, snow removal services have been busy clearing roads and parking lots.

Mountain Top Lawn Care is responsible for clearing some of the lots at the Pine Ridge Mall, the Idaho State Police lot and various other spots around Bannock County.

According to owner John Nelson, his team laid down nearly 20,000 pounds of salt last week.

To put that into perspective, Nelson said his group will put down two pallets per storm, or about 5,000 pounds of salt.

“It’s been really busy the last week,” he said. “We’ve had four storms. Each storm takes us about 18 hours, from start to finish.”

With nearly 80 hours of snow removal in the last week, Nelson and his team are “all tired.”

Winter isn’t over yet and with more precipitation expected, Nelson is prepared for a week with “lots of Coca-Cola’s and lots of energy drinks.”
