GoFundMe page set up to memorialize alleged Bundy victim

In 1975, 12-year-old Lynette Culver went missing. Her body was never found, but days before he was executed, Ted Bundy confessed to killing her.

More than 40 years later, there is no evidence, aside from Bundy’s confession, to link the two.

Now, a group has set up a GoFundMe page to help build a bench to memorialize Culver.

According to the page, the goal “is to obtain enough money to build a public bench made of marble, engraved with her name, date of birth, date gone missing, and a couple of her drawings. The family would like to have it installed either on the grounds of the middle school from where she went missing or placed in a nearby public park where she played.”

As of noon on Tuesday, the page had $1,115 of it’s $3,000 goal.

Culver’s case is still being investigated by the Pocatello Police Department.

According to Lt. Bill Collins, the department wasn’t just going to close the case because of a confession.

“We’ve chosen to continue working on things as we can,” Collins said. “I mean, to be honest with you, we don’t have any real solid leads that we’re following up on at this point.”

But without a body, there is a significant lack of evidence.

“We’re not just gonna file it away and call it that her death is attributed to him and we have nobody to prove anything one way or the other,” Collins explained.
