New charter stem school comes to Idaho Falls
A new charter high will be starting up this fall in Idaho Falls. It will be called White Pine Stem Academy and will initially be located at 2664 1st Street.
It will be an expansion of the current White Pine K-8 Charter School.
The 7th and 8th grade classes will move to the new school and a 9th grade class will be added. 10th through 12th grades will be added one at a time each year thereafter.
Principal Jeremy Clark explains who the new stem high school will appeal to.
“Students who want to have a focus in energy or cybersecurity, students who have an interest in the medical arts, or students who have an interest in business who really understand that stem has application in all those areas,” Clark said.
The expansion is made possible through an $800,000 federal grant.
White Pine Stem Academy plans to have a new building constructed in the next two years.
