JHSS wins national culinary acclaim
A Jackson Hole High School team scored some national recognition this month with a 12th place finish in the National ProStart Invitational, the premier culinary and restaurant management competition in the nation.
150,000 students from across the country took part in the competition. It’s sponsored by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation.
The winning team features Sarah Sampson, Sophie Robinson, Ashley Brimeyer, and Katie Lewis.
According to judges, the team was poised and articulate throughout the competition, and responded to complicated critical thinking questions. To compete at the national level, the team first won the Wyoming ProStart competition, receiving a combined $20,000 in scholarships from post-secondary culinary schools in the process.
For its winning project, the team pitched a business plan for “Cafe Pinna, a vegan-organic-hydrophonic greenhouse” cafe.
