Mobile substation sent to Montpelier

UPDATE: 7-11 8:03 a.m.

Rocky Mountain Power says 1,489 customers in the Montpelier area have been affected by a power outage caused by the failure of a component in a power transformer.

The utility now estimates power will be fully restored by around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. In addition to Montpelier, it is also affecting people in the communities of Dingle, Paris, and Ovid.

A mobile substation was dispatched from Salt Lake City to the Montpelier substation early Wednesday evening. A replacement part was also transported. Once it arrives, Rocky Mountain Power said it typically takes about 8 hours to connect it to the local grid.

There might be some short outages to customers in the area as that component comes on line.
