Ammon honors community members for service

The second annual Ammon Mayor’s Community Service Awards were held Wednesday night at the Thunder Ridge High School Performing Arts Center.

Members of the community were recognized by Mayor Sean Coletti for their great service throughout the city.

The guest speaker was Joseph Kim. He is a North Korean escapee, who shared his compelling story of escaping North Korea as a young boy and then leaving China for the United States. His remarks were centered around the freedoms he has lived without and the freedoms he now enjoys in America.

The service award recipients are:

Coach Dave Austin, Shauna Crabtree, Tom Hunsaker, Leisle Rose, Scott and Tia Southwick, and Jordan Stone. Ann Rydalch was selected by Mayor Coletti as the citizen of the year.

KIDK Eyewitness News 3 anchor Todd Kunz was selected by the mayor as the emcee.
