Multi-employer job fair underway Thursday in Ammon
Over 60 employers are taking part in a Job Fair at Rocky Mountain Middle School from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. Thursday.
Sponsored by the Idaho Department of Labor, the Job Fair is being held in the grassy area between Bonneville High School and Rocky Mountain Middle School.
A variety of state, local, and federal employers, retailers, service providers and health care providers are participating.
Job seekers are encouraged to “dress for success” and bring their resume. It is open to anyone looking for employment.
Idaho’s unemployment rate is at 2.8%, which makes it tough for employers to hire. The Department of Labor said a lot of people that come to job fairs are looking to change jobs.
The Idaho Department of Labor hopes that job fairs, like Thursday’s, can promote networking.
“I think the biggest thing is for people just to network with each other. Sometimes they can spread the word on what kinds of employment they want or what kind of jobs they have,” said Michael Brown, the local veterans employment representative for the Idaho Department of Labor. “Maybe somebody can go get some training and maybe get that job later.”
