Geography bee season underway

REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) - It's that time of year when local schools are holding their geography bees in preparation for the state bee coming up this spring.

Organizers want to raise awareness of these bees because they feel geography is such an important subject for the students.

The organizer of the state event says it's gaining in popularity, and he hopes more schools will become aware of it and participate

"There are many schools that don't have an awareness of the bee -- the parents, the student, the administrators don't know about that, so we're hoping that more schools can learn about it, and try it out, and once they try it, they're usually hooked and they try it every year," Michael Madsen said.

The deadline for schools to register to hold a bee is January 26. You can apply HERE.
