WORCESTER, Massachusetts (WCVB) — A man is accused of trying to attack two teenage lifeguards in Worcester.
Worcester police responded to the Lincoln Village pool house Wednesday night. Witnesses told officers a group of kids were not listening to the lifeguards and were asked to leave.
Police said 42-year-old Carlos Betancourt, the father of one of the kids, walked into the pool house where the lifeguards were gathered and began verbally arguing with them.
Betancourt then took out a knife and swung at the 17-year-old male lifeguard, police said. The victim jumped back and was not injured.
Betancourt allegedly went back to a vehicle in the parking lot, grabbed a baseball bat and returned to the pool house. He swung the bat at a 15-year-old female lifeguard, but missed, police said.
He is accused of using the bat to smash the front glass door of the pool house before fleeing the area.
Betancourt is facing multiple charges including assault with a dangerous weapon.
He was held without bail.
