Pocatello Food Drive Tries To Feed The 5,000

The Bible says Christ used a few loaves and fishes to feed 5,000. A local charity thinks the community’s generosity will be able to do even better.

Members of the Feeding the 5,000 Families Food Drive set up at grocery stores in the Pocatello area to get donations for the Idaho Food Bank.

Although they’d certainly take loaves and fishes for the needy, the charity said they’d prefer food that’s a little less perishable. Canned goods are great, and cash is even better.

Organizers said $1 in the food bank’s hands can buy $7 worth of food.

Members of the food drive said people in this community are willing to give even when times are hard.

“This is a really caring community, and if they think they can come and give us a can, give us a dollar or just give us a blessing, we’d appreciate it,? Feeding the 5,000 Families Food Drive representative Rita Haggardt said.
