New Cancer Center Opens In Pocatello
Locals fighting cancer may not have to go far from home for treatment.
Portneuf Medical Center held the grand opening of its new cancer center Friday.
Until now cancer patients have been treated at a unit in the basement of the old hospital.
Staff at the new cancer center said natural light and a nicer environment should make a big difference for patients coming from the old location.
Dr. Michael Callaghan cut the ribbon to open the building and said this new cancer center is one of the best equipped and most technologically advanced in the state.
?The equipment’s all brand new. This is current, up-to-date, state-of-the-art equipment. We have capabilities we didn’t have before. The patients would have had to go out of the area before. So we’re happy to move the ball forward,? Callaghan said.
The state-of-the-art facility took about one year to build and cost PMC $10 million.
