I-15 Construction Project 50 Percent Complete
Authorities say a 35-month project to rebuild 24 miles of Interstate 15 through Utah County is 50 percent complete.
The project manager for the I-15 CORE Project tells the Deseret News work crews are on pace to finish in December 2012 as scheduled though plenty of closures and delays remain.
Dale Hawks says crews have moved an estimated 5 million tons of dirt and laid down 1 million yards of concrete.
Hawks says about 1,600 people are working full time on the $1.7 billion project.
The project will add two lanes in both directions from Main Street in Levi to Spanish Fork Main Street and extend the express lanes from University Parkway in Orem to Spanish Fork.
Crews will rebuild and reconfigure 10 interchanges and replace 63 aging bridges.
