Main Street Buzz: Quigg Illuminate

Continuing our “Main Street Buzz” series, Eyewitness News wants to bring you stories about innovative local businesses around eastern Idaho.

This time, we put the spotlight on Quigg Illuminate in Blackfoot.

Sean Quigg has started an online directory for deaf and speech-impaired individuals who are seeking a qualified translator to help them through legal or medical situations in which specific communication is needed.

Quigg is deaf and his wife Deedee spoke to Eyewitness News about the importance of finding a qualified translator for people who might be at a disadvantage in some scenarios.

“English is not their first language,” said Deedee. “American Sign Language is not a written language, so it can’t be spelled out, can’t communicate on a piece of paper.”

Quigg Illuminate connects users with certified translators in the area. Users can even call Sean and Deedee via video phone.

The Quigg Illuminate website can be found at http://quiggilluminateinterpreting.com.
