Rexburg Man Gets Prison For Thefts

A Rexburg man was sentenced to eight years in prison following his sentencing on felony charges Monday.

Madison County Prosecutor Sid Brown’s office said 7th District Judge Gregory Moeller sentenced Tanner Penrod, 25, to three to seven years in prison on charges of grand theft and two to five years on burglary charges. Penrod also received an additional two to six years for parole violations on previous charges of statutory rape and kidnapping in 2007 and burglary and theft in 2008. All three terms were to run concurrently.

For now, Penrod is being held in the Madison County Jail in Rexburg. He’s scheduled to appear before 7th District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. in Idaho Falls next week for sentencing on additional charges of grand theft and attempting to elude police.
