Idaho Falls girl badly hurt in rollover
Seven people from Idaho Falls were hurt when their van rolled over near Mona on Interstate 15, leaving one girl in critical condition.
Although the cause of the crash is under investigation, the Utah Highway Patrol said the driver of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country van was traveling northbound at milepost 228 when it went off the left side should and then over-corrected back toward the right side. The van hit the embankment of the milepost 228 structure and then rolled.
The driver, Raul Avila, 56, of Idaho Falls, a 54-year-old woman sitting in the front passenger seat, were the only ones involved wearing seat belts. The ages of those in the van ranged from 9 to 56.
An 11-year-old girl was ejected. The Salt Lake Tribune reports she is in critical condition.
The accident victims were taken to hospitals Salt Lake City and Nephi.
