Shoshone-Bannock Tribes get domestic violence grant

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes have secured a $680,411 federal grant to help fund its Violence Against Women Tribal Governments Program.

United States Attorney Wendy Olson said the funding would support tribal youth and government programs and domestic violence education, awareness and intervention.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office,” said Olson, “is committed to working closely with all Idaho tribes to promote and provide public safety in Indian Country.”

The award was made through the Department of Justice Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation. The Nez Perce Tribe was awarded $359,667 for its Tribal Youth Program under the same federal initiative.
