Tre’Vell

Tre’Vell is an attractive young teen who is very engaged in school. In the fall of September 2012, he will be in eighth grade. At a recent IEP meeting at his school, his social worker was very pleased to hear numerous compliments about Tre’Vell from his primary special education teacher and his mainstream classroom teachers. Tre’Vell is legally free.

Tre’Vell is most responsive to parental figures who are nurturing yet firm and consistent and who provide the clear rules, expectations, limits, and consequences that help him be successful. Tre’Vell feels safer and more secure (and is able to respect the adults parenting him) when he knows that they are on top of things and clearly in charge. Tre’Vell has made some great strides behaviorally over the past two years despite his ever present feelings of anxiety about the future, attention difficulties, high energy, and residual effects of past trauma (all of which are being addressed through counseling and medication therapy).

Tre’Vell has come such a long way. When he entered foster care in 2007, he appeared to have had no training in basic social skills and none of the childhood experiences that promote emotional and behavioral growth and a healthy sense of self esteem and well being. And yet, here he is today, a delightful boy who truly wants to have a family of his own.

If you are a couple or a single mom or single dad with a good support system of family and friends and live in a community that has strong educational and social resources for young teens, please call us to learn more about Tre’Vell. It will be important for his adoptive folks to have a good grasp of how chronic early neglect can impact a child’s over all development.

This child is enrolled in the Northwest Adoption Exchange – Special Recruitment Project. To speak with the recruiter for this child, please call our office at 206.441.6822 or 1-800-927-9411.
