2 local charter schools denied
The Idaho Public Charter Schools Commission has denied petitions for two new eastern Idaho charter schools.
The petition to create the Bingham Academy Charter School in Blackfoot was unanimously denied. The commission decided the proposed charter set standards for post-secondary readiness too low. The commission’s director also said the petition needed too much revision.
A proposed Idaho Falls charter school built on a patriotism curriculum was also denied. The commission said the proposal for the Odyssey Charter School had a too-large average class size of about 30, and didn’t provide enough room in the budget to hire high-caliber faculty.
