Blackfoot man in critical condition after US 26 crash

A Blackfoot man was hospitalized around 9:30 a.m. Thursday after a two car crash at milepost 297 on U.S. Highway 26 near Blackfoot.

Idaho State Police said 52-year-old Mark Bynum was attempting a left hand turn from a private residence onto the highway in his 2001 Dodge Ram 1500.His pickup was struck on the driver’s side by a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup driven by 52-year-old James Miller of Herriman, Utah.

ISP investigators said Bynum was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.Bynum was transported to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon.

Miller was wearing a seat belt and was not transported.

Both lanes of travel were blocked after the accident, but the ISP said they were back open Thursday afternoon.

The crash is under investigation.
