Multiple agencies rescue snowmobiler near Island Park

Several emergency agencies joined forces to rescue a Utah snowmobiler from the Island Park backcountry Wednesday night.

The woman was hurt in a snowmobile accident on Jefferson Mountain west of Island Park at around 4:20 pm Wednesday.

An Island Park ambulance joined Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies, Search and Rescue volunteers and an Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Air Idaho helicopter to coordinate a search. A staging area was established at the Blue Creek parking lot in Island Park.

The helicopter found the woman at 5:50 p.m., but could not land in the area. Two EMTs and a flight nurse helped Search and Rescue team members find the woman and transport her out of the back country on an ambulance Med Sled. It arrived at the base camp around 8:30 p.m.

The woman refused additional treatment and left the area.
