Warden named for Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center

Nancy Espeseth will be the new warden for the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center.

Espeseth currently manages Probation and Parole District 7, based in Idaho Falls. She replaces Jim Woolf, who is now serving as warden at St. Anthony Work Camp.

Espeseth joined IDOC in July 1999 as a correctional officer at the Twin Falls Community Work Center. She became a probation and parole officer in July 2000, a section supervisor in January 2008, manager of District 6 based in Pocatello in August 2010 and manager of District 7 in August 2011.

“Nancy has a long, proud track record of helping protect the quality of life in eastern Idaho,” said Idaho Department of Correction Director Brent Reinke in a news release. “She’s committed to holding offenders accountable while giving them opportunities to change.”

PWCC is a 289-bed women’s facility that opened in 1994. IDOC said it houses all custody levels, from death row to community work release. PWCC also serves as the main reception point for women entering the prison system in Idaho.
