Allstate announces Chubbuck Roadside Services Center
The crowd cheered as 225 blue balloons lined the conference room – one for every person who will be looking at a new job in a matter of weeks.
Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced today Allstate Insurance plans to open a Roadside Services Center at its Chubbuck facilities on Hawthorne Drive. He said this will be a significant boost to the local economy and hopefully have an influence on other large companies looking for a space to set-up shop.
“If a company with the caliber of Allstate chooses Idaho, chooses Bannock County, chooses Chubbuck and Pocatello for the location of their future business, then why shouldn’t we?” Governor Otter posed.
But the job creation does not just stop with the 225 new jobs being created, when instead there will be an exponential multiplying factor possibly leading to an even larger business boom.
Otter explains this job creation ripple effect simply as a three-to-one ratio: for every job created, three more support jobs will follow.
“Every job we have, we’re going to have more and more job and work opportunities that are just offshoots of what we’ve got now,” Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad said.
Chubbuck Mayor Steven England has been working extensively with Blad in order to bring new jobs back into the area. Blad noted over the past three years, the county added nearly 2,000 new jobs, which in turn made Bannock County a leader among the rest of the state when it comes to rapid growth in economic development.
“We express gratitude for all of the members of this community for the kind of people you are that attracted this great organization to come to our area,” England said as he thanked the members of the crowd and Allstate.
“The Pocatello-Chubbuck area has proven to be a terrific community that offers an enthusiastic and energetic population from which Allstate can select the best and brightest to help deliver on our commitment to a superior customer experience,” said Allstate Roadside Services Chief Operations Officer Paul Huber.
A little more than one year ago, the Allstate call center moved into town and company spokesperson Jody Lewis said they spent $8.3 million on its 250 employee salaries and $250,000 in incentives within that time. She said the company expects this to only grow larger within this next year.
Lewis mentioned the collective number of employees that will be hired by Roadside Services and the call center will be roughly 420 new employees.
The new hires will be selected by January 28, and Roadside Services will not officially begin taking calls until February 12.
