Utah woman who fell ice climbing dies

A Park City woman who fell while ice climbing last week at Bridal Veil Falls has died of her injuries.

Authorities say 30-year-old Meghan Arnold died at University Hospital Saturday night, a few days after falling about 30 feet.

Arnold and a partner had been climbing in the popular “Stairway to Heaven” frozen waterfall in Provo Canyon when she fell Wednesday morning.

University of Utah officials say Arnold was working on her Ph.D. in public health and had completed research in water and sanitation that has impacted lives in Ghana, Peru and India.

School officials say she was an avid skier, biker and climber with a passion for philanthropy.
