Sledding Signs on Bartz Field in Pocatello

If you feel like going sledding in Pocatello, and Bartz Field is your place, you may see some new signs.

In the past few weeks, several people have been injured while sledding around one particularly steep hill.

Anybody from the community can still go to Bartz Field and sled, but there are certain areas that are now off-limits to sledding.

Obstacles such as trees, rocks and fences can not only cause injury, but damage I-S-U property.

“Bartz Field is going to remain open for the community to enjoy,” said Marketing and Communications Director Mark Levine. “However, people need to exercise some due diligence and some common sense in how to best utilize and enjoy Bartz Field.”

Proper sledding gear includes using actual sleds, not garbage can lids, as well as helmets and even elbow and knee pads.
