Car engulfed in flames in Shelley

A vehicle was engulfed in flames in Shelley early Thursday morning.

Fire Chief Mike Carter said a driver noticed smoke coming up behind his steering wheel of his Suburban and pulled into a gas station at 140 N. Main Street.

The unidentified driver then pulled the SUV onto the highway to get away from the gas pumps.

By the time firefighters arrived, the vehicle was totally involved in flames.

Carter said no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is unknown.
