Montana fugitives arrested in Fremont County
Two Montana fugitives are in custody after a brief high-speed pursuit in Island Park on Thursday.
The Idaho State Police identified the men as 22-year-old Jerron M. Mitchell-Fuller of Glendive, Mont., and 28-year-old Christopher L. Etheridge of Billings, Mont.
Idaho State Police said they were notified at 10:55 a.m. the escapees from the Montana Department of Corrections in Great Falls were believed to be headed for Idaho in a stolen Ford 250 pickup.
A vehicle matching the description was involved in a reported gas skip at Macks Inn around 11:25 a.m. A trooper spotted the vehicle at milepost 389 at 12:10 p.m. on U.S. Highway 20 at the interchange of Yale-Kilgore Road.
According to ISP, the suspects led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit. The truck managed to avoid spike strips laid out at milepost 378. The truck pulled over before another set of spikes at milepost 362 and the two were taken into custody without incident.
Mitchell-Fuller and Etheridge face charges of eluding, possession of stolen property and petty theft. Etheridge will also be cited for failure to purchase a drivers license.
Other agencies participating in the arrest were the Ashton and St. Anthony Police Departments and Fremont and Madison County sheriffs offices.
The two were being held in the Fremont County Jail in St. Anthony.
