Jackson, Star Valley and Alpine win state grants and loans

Several regional communities received final approval of grants or loans from the Wyoming State Loan and Investment Board on Thursday.

Jackson will receive a $500,000 Community Enhancement Grant coupled with a million dollar loan for improvements at Snow King Mountain Resort.The town had requested a $1.5 million grant.

The Jackson Hole Airport Joint Powers Board requested and received a $2 million multi-year Community Readiness Grant and a $3 million multi-year loan to help fund an expansion of the Jackson Hole Airport.

Star Valley Medical Center was awarded two grants. $1.08 million will help improve its facility in Thayne. Another $289,000 was awarded to the center’s facility in Afton.

Alpine will also receive a $550,250 Community Readiness Grant to help pay for the Snake River Water Line.

The SLIB programs are intended to provide financing for publicly owned infrastructure that serves the needs of business and promotes economic development within Wyoming communities.

The board approved more than $18 million in grant and loan requests statewide.
