Plane crashes in Jefferson County

An ultralight plane crashed in the 3000 block of East County Line Road in Jefferson County on Saturday.

It happened around 11 a.m, the sheriff’s office said.

The pilot is a 61-year-old resident of Jefferson County and was injured when trying to land his ultralight plane in a field. Deputies said Alan Leonard Zohner had taken off on his privately-owned runway in Jefferson County on Saturday morning when his plane lost power.

Zohner was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. His wife and neighbor heard the crash and called the sheriff’s office.

Deputies from Jefferson and Bonneville counties responded, as well as the Idaho State Police.
